AGSA to consider MKP’s request to look into possible irregular expenditure related to the National Dialogue
PRETORIA – The Auditor-General of South Africa (AGSA) confirms that it has received a letter from the uMkhonto weSizwe Party (MKP) requesting the national audit office to examine what the party refers to as “an imminent and serious risk of irregular expenditure” related to the National Dialogue.
The AGSA will consider the request and respond to the party in writing after following its regulatory requirements and due process.
It is worth noting that the AGSA conducts annual regularity audits of the departments and public entities responsible for delivering the dialogue. If any material irregularities are identified during our annual audits, they are reported in the audit reports of these departments / entities, which are tabled publicly in Parliament.
It is equally worth noting that the national audit office is committed to carrying out its constitutional mandate in a fair manner, without fear, favour or prejudice in all audits.
