AGSA celebrates 191 candidates who pass the December 2025 APC examination
The Auditor-General of South Africa (AGSA) proudly announced that 191 of its candidates have successfully passed the December 2025 Saica Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) examination, marking the final milestone toward qualifying as Chartered Accountants. This achievement reflects the AGSA’s continued commitment to developing highly skilled, ethical, and future-ready professionals who are equipped to serve the nation with excellence.
Our first-time APC candidates achieved a 51% pass rate, an especially meaningful accomplishment considering that many of them began their studies in 2020 under the challenging conditions of the Covid-19 pandemic. Their dedication and resilience highlight the strength of the AGSA’s training programmes, mentorship support and our ongoing investment in developing auditors who are equipped to serve the nation with integrity and excellence.
Nationally, the APC pass rate decreased from 73% in 2024 to 61% in 2025, with African candidates experiencing a 17% decline. The AGSA’s overall pass rate reflected this trend, moving from 63% to 46%. Despite these shifts, the AGSA remains steadfast in its mission to support and empower candidates throughout their training journey.
The organisation continues to enhance its guidance, tools and learning opportunities to ensure that aspiring auditors are well prepared to thrive in a changing and complex professional environment.
